I am seeing lack of build servers as part of OMoC offering a big challenge with many client small & big. Today the client is responsible to setup this environment and whether they have an extended team to support their implementation or not, this setup is a challenge even though it is one of the simple task to do. It is a very small system that will require more maintenance cost or if they decide to use a developers personal laptop there is a risk of maintenance due to resource attrition. Cloud like bluemix is a solution but again that is not very close to OMoC.
Like offering provides a dropbox (FTP) today, why can't OMoC provide a shared build server (basic RHEL/SSH) which is a very light server with limited space without even a DB instance. The build server will need a limited scope just to compile and package solution as per the extensions.jar requirement.
Providing source control like github will be an add-on option.
How will this idea be used?
In OMoC implementations clients should not be dependent on any external infrastructure.
