ICAP scanning required for files pulled and pushed by Sterling Integrator

Files that are pushed by external vendors are scanned via ICAP protocol in Sterling Secure Proxy. But the files that are pulled by Sterling Integrator are not scanned as they do not pass through SSP. This leaves a big gap in the scanning feature of Sterling file transfer suite products where most of the external files are missed for anti-virus scan.

Files can be scanned by other workaround methods i.e ICAP java task service, CLA2 adapter copy of file to another server for scan, but these methods are initiated in the extranet when the file comes in the trusted zone. The scanning feature must be available in the ISO zone itself, just how it is provided for files that are pushed over internet.

What is your industry? Banking
How will this idea be used?

This will enhance the security feature and will enable the bank to scan all the files that are pushed to the bank or pulled by the bank, to be scanned in the ISO zone itself. And will also provide broad protection at the Banks perimeter.

Thank you so much Kiran for considering this!

We were told multiple workarounds by the IBM technical sales team in order to achieve this, which we certainly dont want do as this would be a duplicate effort.

Could you suggest any ETA for this activity ( which quarter or year ) so that we can prepare our roadmap and efforts accordingly.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. We appreciate your willingness to share details about your experience and your recommendations. After reviewing this we have decided to consider to implement this idea in one of the future releases based on the roadmap priorities. We are planning to implement a Forward Proxy capability in Sterling Secure Proxy and this will be planned as an extension to it.

If you have any additional feedback, thoughts or ideas, or if there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to reply to this message to continue the conversation. Appreciate your patience.

    Thanks,

    Product Management
