Add detailed software version to .swidtag file

Currently the .swidtag contains version in V.R.M format so it is missing the exact Fix Level and iFix version.

For example:

  • version 6.1.0.2_iFix012 for Windows in the .swidtag contains version="6.1.0" and not the full 6.1.0.2_iFix012 (or 6.1.0.2.012).

  • version 6.1.0.3_iFix007 for Linux in the .swidtag contains version="6.1.0" and not the full 6.1.0.3_iFix007 (or 6.1.0.3.007).

The .swidtag should contain exact software version.

In this case the versioning can be changed not to use any free form text, for example for future versions, for example Connect Direct 6.3.0.2 iFix015 could be marked as 6.3.2.15 or as 6.3.0.15 (each iFix becomes an Fix Pack). This would allow to get rid of free form text in Connect Direct versions. Please also consider the fact that vulnerability patching nowadays requires regular, frequent patching, so we are in the times where Fix Packs lose their rationale and the iFix version becomes critical information related to the software version.

In addition, other scanning tools (other than Control Center) operate based on .swidtag's, which is an international industry standard.

Thank you for opening this enhancement request with us. I have reviewed it thoroughly with my team. In these discussions we've determined that using ILMT to track this information would not be possible as it's not designed to accept free form text to capture fix details as requested. Because of this I must decline this request.

I would mention however that Control Center Director is able to track the version/release/maintenance level of a Connect:Direct environment in its node roster. This would likely be the ideal way to track your environment to understand where nodes are installed and if they are running current maintenance. If you don't already have access to CCD I'd suggest reaching out to your sales rep for a demo.

    Sincerely,

    Chris Sanders
