C:D 4.8: Add support for Windows 2016 core + clustered environment

At the moment, only Windows 2012 is supported in a core and/or clustered environment while more and more customers will do the move/upgrade to Windows 2016.

In the actual context, the market tends to secure more and more their environments. By using Windows Core servers, the surface of attack is reduced compared to Windows servers with GUI. With Windows core, there are less vulnerabilities linked to the GUI (and also to patch) and people are obliged to connect remotely on the Windows Core servers to perform their actions.

So it seems to be quite normal that C:D 4.8 should be supported on Windows 2016 core and in clustered environment.

What is your industry? Financial Markets
How will this idea be used?

While migrating to Windows 2016 and because of internal security policies, only specific applications (like Citrix) will be allowed to run on Windows 2016 with GUI Experience. By default, All applications should be installed on a Windows 2016 Core.

Thank you for your patience as we worked on this enhancement. I'm pleased to announced that we now support C:D Windows v4.8 on Win 2016 in a clustered environment.  I've included a link to the latest C:D Windows cluster deployment guide below which you can use as a guide to install with.  One thing to note is that Windows 2016 with Desktop Experience is supported, but Windows 2016 Core Edition could not be certified due to limited support for UIs.

    Dear Chris,

First, thank you to have accepted to support C:D 4.8 on Windows 2016 cluster.

As this RFE was created 3 months ago, I suppose that the testing/validation is progressing well.

So, would it be possible to have a committed date ?

    Thank you for your follow-up.

    Kind regards, Patrick

Thank you for opening this enhancement request with IBM.  I have reviewed it with my team and we believe that your request to add cluster support and documentation for Windows 2016 would be valuable.  We will accept this enhancement request as an uncommitted candidate and will look to place this item on the roadmap moving forward.

    Sincerely,

    Chris Sanders
