Add native AS4 support to B2BI

We are a global manufacturer who has EDI trading partners in many countries.  In Europe, AS4 is rapidly become a requirement.  We would appreciate having our existing B2BI Solution (IBM Sterling B2BI) continue to be our one stop shop for all trading partner EDI requirements.

How will this idea be used?

We will be able to continue to utilize our existing B2BI solution for all of our EDI protocol needs, rather than having to install additional servers/software packages and interface them with B2BI.  It will keep existing B2BI customers, who need to support AS4, able to maintain a streamlined EDI configuration and avoid turning their EDI system structure into a patchwork of various servers and software packages.

If you are connecting from B2BI to your clients via the IBM VAN today, your requested use case should already be supported by Supply Chain Busuiness Network as part of the PEPPOL offering.

Today, PEPPOL uses AS2 as the transport mechanism between the respective Service Providers supporting the Buyer + Seller. From mid 2019 the PEPPOL network is planning to begin migration to AS4, however Germany is looking to deploy AS4-based trade sooner, before the end of 2018. Australia + NZ are looking at something similar.

IBM already supports SCBN Essentials / VAN / Managed Services <--> PEPPOL today, so in the worst case, that you dont have an IBM VAN or Managed Service connection, possibly thats all you need.

    I'm happy to advise more.
